Methodology
These are the exact mappings and rules implemented by the calculator.
Grade points
| Grade | Point | Grade | Point |
|---|---|---|---|
| A+ | 5.0 | A | 4.5 |
| B+ | 4.0 | B | 3.5 |
| C+ | 3.0 | C | 2.5 |
| D+ | 2.0 | D | 1.5 |
| Conditional Pass | 1.0 | F | 0.0 |
Default level weights
| Level | Weight |
|---|---|
| 1000 | 0.2 |
| 2000 | 0.2 |
| 3000 | 0.2 |
| 4000 | 0.4 |
The weights can be edited under Advanced. A non-negative weight is accepted, including zero.
Formula
cGPA = Σ(grade point × MC × level weight) ÷ Σ(MC × level weight)
Only included modules with MC greater than zero and a non-negative numeric level weight enter the sums. Blank, zero, negative, or invalid MC values are incomplete and do not enter either sum.
Excluded modules
Turning off Count in cGPA skips that module before the numerator and denominator are calculated. Its MC and grade remain editable but have no effect on the result.
Semester groups
Semester names and groups are organizational only. Moving a module between semesters does not change its grade, MC, level, inclusion setting, or contribution to the overall cGPA.
Rounding
The quotient is calculated at full JavaScript numeric precision. By default, the displayed cGPA is rounded to two decimal places. Turning off the rounding option displays four decimal places. Numerator and denominator details display three decimal places.
